Before the speedmapping competition I had released nothing except one small easy to complete map.
As I was a regular of of the website UnrealSP.org, I wanted to do something for their speedmapping
competition, so I thought, why not? Then I had to think of the SP's a theme... Hmm. Why don't I make a SP
about a member of UnrealSP taking over the world using that SP site? The idea was born. I thought
about putting Hellscrag as the main villain, but in the end I thought it would be best to use me or get shot
(I kinda made fun of the boss in the last battle, & I don't think Hellscrag would have appreciated being that
boss).
As I was making the map, I knew it was going to have a slightly comical approach, due the absurdity of
the back story, but I was also going for a tactical approach to the gameplay (as seen at the start of the
map). I knew that I wanted to put it in a big building called the USP-HQ, so I had the setting. The map's
objective was to infiltrate the USP-HQ & assassinate the boss, LS222. He also has a head of security.
I went through the floors of the skyscraper making the rooms & little sneak pathways into places that
would reward you for finding them. Then I went from a clean office approach to a grimy approach, &
then into a place called the Burning cathedral.
The competition was fair with it's rules, as I wanted to start from scratch, although I couldn't resist
putting in a Quadshot. In the six weeks I sped along, & by week 2 or 3 I was done, & I only got to do my
mapping on the weekends! I had to go back & fix & change a lot of things though, with the help of Qtit,
who was my beta tester.
As the clock struck  the minutes signalling 1 week left I had practically finished, although I know the
architecture could be a lot, lot better. I am pleased with the gameplay & theme side of it though. I know
there are lots of better skilled mappers who have spent a lot more time & dedication with this event
then I have, & I don't think I'll win, but I do this sort of thing for the mapping. If I didn't like mapping I
would not have entered in the first place.
There is one important thing I learnt about mapping though; the Unreal Editor can be a real pain in the...

This was originally going to be three maps, USP-HQ, USP-HQ Top Floors, & The Burning Cathedral.

I crammed it with hidden easter eggs, most need cheating to reach though. See if you can find all 5 EEs
(& maybe you can find some I forgot I put in)!
